Dick and Mary Ann Bockerman were married 49 years this past September. Dick was a World War II veteran. He worked for the Bureau of Reclamation in Colorado and California, and for Bonneville Power in Oregon and Washington. He was part of the original crew at the Celilo Converter Station in the Dalles, and was a substation operator at the Ross Complex in Vancover upon his retirement in 1983.
Dick was a member of the American Legion Smith-Reynolds Post 14, Vancover Elks Lodge #823, and an active member of Messiah Lutheran Church since 1972. He served as Messiah's Number 1 handyman for many years. He was the "chief cook and bottle-washer" for the MOMS (Men of Messiah) group where he loved to play pinochle. He regularly attended the Monday Morning group.
Dick loved to travel and enjoyed several trips to Hawaii, the New England States, Europe, and the continental USA. He was a talented artist and enjoyed working on projects with his grandchildren, Josh and Rachel. Dick was a lifelong learner, most recently developing his computer skills by taking a class at Clark College. He enjoyed conversing on a variety of subjects, especially sports, politics and investing.
Dick was preceeded in death by his parents Charles and Leona Dewey.
Dick Dewey is survived by his wife Mary Ann, at home; one son, Stephen; daughter Susan(Jim) Ojala, grandson, Joshua, and granddaughter, Rachel. He is also survived by brothers, Charles, Robert and Dale, and sisters Betty, Shirley and Doris.
