Ellen "Esther" (Fairbank) Zordel, 74, died Wednesday, June 10, 2009 at Trinity Manor, Dodge City.

She was born December 25, 1934 at Ransom, the daughter of Vincent and Mae Squier Fairbank. A longtime Ransom resident, living a short while in Abilene and then moving to Dodge City in 2004. She was a Certified Nurses Assistant at Grissel Memorial Hospital in Ransom for over 35 years, retiring in 1998.

She was a member of the VFW Auxiliary, Ransom and the Ness County Women's Bowling League.

On July 31, 1954 she married Roy C. Zordel at Ransom. He preceded her in death on February 9, 1997.

Survivors include: 2 sons, 2 daughters, siblings; 14 grandchildren; and 6 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, 3 brothers, Richard, Ralph and Elmer Fairbank, 3 sisters, June Bartlett, Audrey Lentz and Burdene Schwitzer and a son-in-law, Dave DuBois.

Memorial Service will be 10:30 am Friday, June 12, 2009 at the United Methodist Church, Ransom, with Rev. David Johnson presiding. There will be no public visitation, cremation has taken place. Burial will be in the Ransom Cemetery.
