Bennie was my favorite great aunt. She was always so happy, upbeat and charismatic every time I saw her.

She had 2 sons with her first husband, Joe Ward. Her sons are Tim and Chris Ward. She later married Joe Holten.

KNOX CITY - Bennie Lee Bradford Holten, 76, of San Angelo and formerly of Foard County, died Monday, Feb. 8, 1999, in a San Angelo nursing home. Graveside service will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday in Crowell Cemetery. Arrangements are by Smith Funeral Home. She was born Sept. 27, 1922, in Thalia. She was a certified dental assistant and a homemaker. She was a member of the Eastern Star, Rebekah Lodge and First United Methodist Church in San Angelo. Survivors include her husband, Joe Holten of San Angelo; two sons, Tim Ward of San Angelo and Chris Ward of Valley Springs, Calif.; a brother, John W. Bradford of Shawano, Wis.; a sister, Evelyn Balis of Knox City; six stepchildren; three grandchildren; and 13 stepgrandchildren.
