Family members related that Shirley had been buried within the Farnsworth/Kime family plot located in the west central portion of the Mt. Hope Cemetery at Edgeley, La Moure County, North Dakota. Within that plot, 15 feet east-southeast of her fathers grave, at location N 46D 21.370' W 098D 43.149' is a grave marker of a child labelled "Unknown." Another possible location of Shirley's unmarked grave is in the east area of Lot 118, Plot 2 (in the vicinity of N 46 D 21.390', W 098 D 43.126'), which belonged to her aunt and uncle Elizabeth and Edgar Farnsworth. According to the Mt. Hope Cemetery sexton, Mr. Mittlestadt, related to David Farnsworth in September 2010, that within Lot 118, Plot 2 are buried 2 infant children of Elwin Farnsworth, with Shirley possibly being one of them.

A newspaper article in the Edgeley Mail at the time, published the following death notice of Shirley Mae Farnsworth:

"INFANT DAUGHTER DIES

"Shirley Mae, 5-weeks-old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Alvin [sic - Elwin] Farnsworth, died at the Edgeley hospital Friday. Funeral services were held Sunday"

Shirley's death certfiicate provides birth as taking place on August 7, 1929 and her death as September 13, 1929, with her cause of death as enteritis. The certificate mentions she was buried in Edgeley on September 15, 1929.
