Retired City School Custodian Claimed
Carl Ferl, 927 E. Gutierrez St., a custodian in the Santa Barbara City School System for 35 years, died Thursday afternoon in a local hospital, following a long illness.
Mr. Ferl was born in Santa Barbara Jan. 21, 1879, and lived here all his life. He retired in 1940 because of ill health. He was a charter member of Aerie 442 of the Fraternal Order of Eagles and had many friends in the city, included among whom were scores of school children and former pupils.
His wife, Mrs. Mary Ferl, is the only survivor.
Funeral services will be conducted at the Welch & Ryce Chapel Monday at 2:30 pm by the Eagles. Committal in the Santa Barbara Crematory Chapel will be private.
