FRANKSTON - Services for Murphy B. Bacon, Sr., 88, Frankston, are set for 4 p.m. Wednesday at First Baptist Church of Frankston with the Rev. Harold Brunson and the Rev. James Duncan officiating. Burial will be in Frankston City Cemetery under direction of Thompson Funeral Home of Jacksonville.
Mr. Bacon died Tuesday morning after an extended illness in a Jacksonville hospital.
Born in Panola County on March 29, 1891, he was a long-time Frankston resident and was retired from road construction. He was a member of the William Foster Masonic Lodge No. 312 of Frankston and received his 15-year-pin. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Frankston.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Lillie Bacon of Frankston; three sons, Billy Bacon of Frankston, Murphy Bacon of Jacksonville and O'Neil Bacon of Newton; two sisters, Mrs. Laura Colson of Frankston and Mrs. Lucille Beard of Kerrville; 10 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Grandsons will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Masonic Lodge.
