MRS. UNDERWOOD

VALLEY -- Mrs. Emily M. Underwood, 85, of Valley died Sunday, Jan. 25, 2004 at George H. Lanier Memorial Hospital in Valley.

Funeral services are scheduled for Tuesday, Jan. 27 at 11 a.m. at Johnson Brown-Service Funeral Home Chapel in Valley with Dr. Jerome King officiating. Burial will follow in Shawmut Cemetery.

Mrs. Underwood is survived by one granddaughter, Leigh Ann (Tony) Jackson of Valley; and one sister, Kathryn McQueen of Tallassee, Ala.

Born Nov. 2, 1918 in Elmore County, Ala., Mrs. Underwood was a retired employee of WestPoint Pepperell's Shawmut Mill. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Shawmut. She was the daughter of the late Beulah Weldon McQueen and John McQueen.

Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to First Baptist Church of Shawmut or to a charity of one's choice in her memory.

The family will receive friends Monday from 6 until 8 p.m. at Johnson Brown-Service Funeral Home in Valley.
