Walter Sampson Emerson, son of Sampson Emerson and Clarissa "Clara" Barrett. Walter was born on September 27, 1886 in Newbury, Vermont. He died in December of 1969 in Williamsburg, MA. and is buried with his third wife Sara Keyes in the Village Hill Cemetery in Williamsburg, MA..

Note: United States Census, 1900 shows that Walter S. Emerson was living with his parents Sampson and Clara Emerson. His siblings were Mabel M., Fred C., Eva E., and Anna M., there was also a James E. Wilbur living in that residence.

Walter Married Alice Ella George in July 31, 1907 in Fairlee, Orange, Vermont. Alice was the daughter of Wilbur A. George and Ella Z. Basford. She was born in September of 1891 in Brattleboro, Windham, Vermont.

Note: United States Census, 1910 shows that Walter is married and living with his mother Clarissa, 42 yrs. old (who is now widowed). Siblings living there are Fred (20 yrs.), Anna M. (12 yrs.), and Leon Emerson (6 yrs.). Also living there are his wife Alice (20 yrs.) and their child Irving W. (2 yrs).

Note: United States Census, 1920 shows that Walter (33 yrs.)is divorced and living with his son Irving (12 yrs.) with a Nettie Minard (46 yrs.)

Sometime between the 1920 United States Census and the 1930 United States Census, Walter married a woman by the name of Annie M.. 1930 Census shows that Annie was born in 1893. I could not find a maiden name for Annie or a date for Walter and Annie's marriage.

William H. Emerson, Ernest V. (Van) Emerson, Mabel Beatrice Emerson and Gordan Emerson.

Note: 1930 United States Census, Hebron, Grafton, New Hampshire: Walter (44 yrs.) is shown with his wife Annie M. (37 yrs.) and children Irving (23 yrs.), Ralph C. (18 yrs.), Robert P. (16 yrs.), William H. (9 yrs.), Ernest V. (7 yrs.) and Mabel B. (5 yrs.).

Walter also married Sara D. Keyes. Sara D. Keyes was born on July 4, 1915.
