Jefferson Township Man Dies Suddenly Saturday Of Heart Seizure
Frederick Graft, 72, dropped dead from a heart attack at 2:30 p.m. Saturday at his home one and one-half mile south and four miles east of Ossian. He had apparently been in good health and was watching his son work in a tree near the house when he was stricken.
The decedent was born April 26, 1867, near Echo, the son of Christian and Rosina Werling Graft. He was married Nov. 26, 1896 to Maria Bauermeister, who survives.
Other survivors include three sons, Elmer Graft, Arthur Graft, and Laurence Graft, all of Jefferson township; five daughters, Mrs. Herman Miller, of Adams County, Mrs. Herman Werling, Mrs. Edwin Meyer, and Mrs. Herbert Franke, all east of Ossian, and Mrs. Morris Shull, of Fort Wayne; one sister, Mrs. Mary Gallmeyer, near Poe; and three brothers, Christian Graft, east of Ossian, Conrad Graft, of Chicago, and Carl Graft. Twenty eight grandchildren and one great grandchild also survive.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at the home and at 2 o’clock at the Bethlehem Lutheran church, of which Mr. Graft was a member, in charge of Rev. Carl Strausburg. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
