Elmer “Doc” Graft, 70, of Route 1, Ossian died suddenly
Monday at his home in Jefferson Township of a heart attack.
Born September 29, 1900 in Wells County, he was a son of
Fred and Marie Bauermeister Graft. His marriage to Ella
Hoffman, who survives, took place April 16, 1922 at Preble.
He was a retired farmer and carpenter, and was a member
of the Bethlehem Lutheran Church.
Surviving in addition to his wife, are four sons, Frederick
and Wayne, both of Fort Wayne, Erwin of Route 1, Ossian, and
Dale of Orlando, Florida, and two daughters, Mrs. Richard
(Aldine) Anderson of Mishawaka, and Mrs. Richard (Shirley)
Milholland of Ossian. A brother, Arthur of Route 1, Ossian;
three sisters, Mrs. Herman (Rose) Miller of Fort Wayne, Mrs.
Edwin (Ella) Meyer of Route 1, Ossian and Mrs. Herbert
(Martha) Franke of Route 2, Ossian, and 20 grandchildren,
also survive.
Services will be held Thursday at the Bethlehem Lutheran
Church with Rev. A. O. Kaltwasser officiating; burial in the
church cemetery with Elzey Funeral Home of Ossian in
charge.
