Mrs. Carrie Edge
Rites Saturday

Mrs. Carrie Lou Edge, 56 of Shawmut, died at 3:15 p.m. Thursday at George H. Lanier Memorial Hospital, Langdale, folowing a serious illness of the past two weeks. She had been in declining health for the past year.

Mrs. Edge was a native of Troup County, Ga., and had lived in Shawmut since 1927. She was a member of the Lebanon Primitive Baptist Church of Gray Hill, Ga.

Funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Lebanon Primitive Baptist Church in Gray Hill, with the Elder Lawrence Yates, pastor of the church officiating.

Burial will be in the Shawmut Cemetery, with Johnson and Company Funeral home of Langdale in charge.

Survivors inculde her husband, Sylvester Edge, Shawmut; three daughters, Mrs. Mildrege Dean, Fairfax; Mrs. Pearl Smith, Fairfax, and Mrs. Vester Flournoy, West Point; one son, James O. Edge of Shawmut; a brother, Otis Ficklin of Shawmut and three sisters, Mrs. Kate Smith of Shawmut, Mrs. Louise Walls and Mrs. Annie Thomas, both of Opelika; 16 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
