A. K. "Pete" Abel Jr.: 90, formerly of Macon, residing in Albany, Ga. passed away Friday, August 20, 2010. Graveside services with Masonic Rites will be held Sunday, August 22, 2010 at 3:00 p.m. in Riverside Cemetery, Macon. A memorial service will be held Monday, August 23, 2010 at 1:00 p.m. at the Wilson Hospice House, 320 Foundation Lane Albany, Ga. 31707. Reverend Tom Newman will officiate.

Born in Monroe County, He was the son of the late Albert Kenneth Abel Sr. and Rosa Marshall Abel. He was the owner of the A.K. Abel Construction Company in Macon. He also was the director of the Bibb County Buildings and Property, retiring after 17 years of service.

He was a member of the New Heights Baptist Church in Macon. He was an Emeritus member of the Mabel Masonic Lodge #255 and was a Master Mason. He was a member of the Grand Lodge of Georgia. He was a 33rd degree member of the Scottish Rite Bodies and a member of the Al Sihah Shrine Temple. He also was a World War II veteran serving in the Army.

He is survived by is wife, Virginia Elizabeth "Libby" Gibbs Abel of Macon, Daughters, Joyce Parrott of Americus, and Jenny (Don) Folds of Albany. Four Grandchildren and Six great Grandchildren.
