Macon-Virginia Elizabeth "Libby" Gibbs Abel, age 88; passed away in Albany Ga., where she had resided for the past 5 years. She was born in Mobile, Ala., but had lived in Macon since 1938. A graduate of Mount DeSales High School, she was an active worker in Cherokee Heights Baptist church in her younger days, and was a member of New Heights Baptist Church.

She was the widow of A.K. "Pete" Abel.

Survivors include Joyce Parrott of Americus & Jenny Folds of Albany; 4 grandchildren & 4 great grandchildren. Graveside services will be held in Riverside Cemetery at 11:30 a.m. Friday, August 27, 2010.
