JESSE PULLEY
Jesse Pulley, son of Mr. and Mrs. Jonathan Pulley, was born on a farm in Benton township, Lucas county, Iowa, on June 18, 1867, and passed away at the General Nursing Home in Chariton on October 9, 1942, at the age of 75 years, 3 months and 21 days.
He grew to manhood in Benton township and attended such schools as there were in the county at that time. He was granted a teacher's certificate on March 20, 1885, and followed the profession of teaching for seven years. He removed to Chariton about 1900 and has since resided here.
He was united in marriage to Nancy K. Wilson, on Nov. 6, 1917, who preceded him in death a few years ago.
About three years ago Mr. Pulley was stricken with paralysis from which he never recovered, and has been a patient at the General Nursing Home.
Mr. Pulley was the last surviving member of his immediate family. Nearest relatives living are a nephew and niece and several cousins in this vicinity and in Ohio.
He possessed a genial disposition, was kind and courteous and had a large circle of friends.
Funeral services, under the auspices of the Masonic order, of which he had been a member for many years, were held at 2:30 Sunday afternoon at the Downs funeral home and burial was in the Chariton cemetery.
