MRS. PHOEBE A. MORRETT
Mrs. Phoebe A. Morrett was born in Grant county, Indiana, March 15th, 1857. She passed away at her home in Benton township, Lucas county, Iowa, Saturday, August 21st, 1920, at 2:30 o'clock, at the age of 63 years, 5 months and 6 days.
When she was three years of age she came to Iowa with her parents, Jonathan and Martha Pulley, and located in Lucas county. She has lived in this county and Wayne county all her life since coming to Iowa.
She was married to George K. Morrett on March 1st, 1888. To this union were born two children, Andy J. Morrett and Ila J. Morrett, who both survive her. These two, the son and daughter, and the daughter-in-law, Mrs. Andy Morrett, deeply mourn her loss.
The husband and father preceded her to the better land on March 22, 1901. His death left her with the entire responsibility of keeping the home and raising the family. This duty she performed with the greatest of fidelity, and she has been a most loving and care-taking mother.
She united with the M. E. church early in life and has always lived a faithful and conscientious Christian life. Her membership was at the M. E. church in Chariton. She was also a member of the Yeomen Lodge.
A large circle of relatives and friends mourn her loss.
Funeral services were held on Monday afternoon at 2 o'clock at her home. Rev. J. W. Goodsell conducted the services and interment was made in the Chariton cemetery.
