CORENA PULLEY
Miss Corena M. Pulley died at her home in Benton township, Sunday, September 29th, 1912, after an extended illness with dropsy. She was the eldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jonathan Pulley and had resided in this county for more than half a century, coming here with her parents in 1860 from Indiana where she was born on December 29th, 1853.
She became identified with the Methodist church in her youth, remaining unfaltering in that faith till death released her from months of severe suffering.
Fifty-nine years and nine months span of life of usefulness, spent in ministering to those about her as long as her health permitted, and the goodly number of friends and neighbors who assembled at the home on Monday afternoon to pay tribute to the memory of the departed, bore testimony to the respect and esteem entertained for her.
The funeral services were in the hands of Rev. Thomas, pastor of the U. B. church in Chariton, after which the body was interred in the Chariton cemetery beside her mother and brother, Andrew, who have gone before.
This sorrow falls most heavily upon the aged father, who is in a very feeble condition, and is comforted by his daughter, Alice and son, Jesse, in his bereavement. The deceased is survived by another sister, Mrs. Phoebe Morrett, all of whom have the sympathy of a large circle of acquaintances in their hour of grief.
