Orvel W. "Mike" Podell was born March 23, 1907 in Denham, Indiana, where he resided his entire life. He died April 26, 1992 at the Winamac Nursing Home. On October 6, 1928, he married Nellie L. James who died January 20, 1992.
Surviving are a daughter, Barbara Stump of South Bend, two sons, Orvel of Winamac and Keith of Sagola, Michigan, a sister, Clara Lemke of North Judson, 13 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a daughter, one sister and three brothers.
Mr. Podell operated a grocery store in Denham along with his wife for over 40 years. He also operated the Denham post office for 40 years retiring in 1973. He was a member of the First Baptist Church, Denham, and Retired Postmasters Association.
