Last Saturday morning, a few minutes before 1 o'clock, Mr. Jake Feese, who was known to a great many people of Adair county, died at his late residence a few miles from Columbia. The deceased was about 44 years old, a Christian gentleman, and a kind and affectionate husband.

He was a son of Mr. Samuel Feese, who died many years ago, and who was known as a miller to nearly every body in Adair county.

The deceased being an energetic business man, several years ago he was solicited to become a candidate for constable in this district, and making the race, he was elected, filling the position to the satisfaction of every one who placed business in his hands.

The deceased was a victim of typhoid fever, lingering many weeks before being relieved of his suffering. Many years ago he confessed his Savior, united with the Christian Church, living a consistent member until the final dissolution. He leaves a wife and a great many relatives, being an uncle of Mr. Mont Feese, Miss Lizzie Feese, and Miss Vara Hutchinson, of the News office.

The funeral services were held Sunday forenoon, conducted by Prof. T. Huffaker. The interment was in the Murray Cemetery, a large number of relatives and friends being present.
