Services Wednesday At Alfalfa Church For Mrs. J.T. Willis
Funeral services for Mrs. J.T. Willis were held in the Baptist church at Alfalfa Wednesday afternoon by Rev. F.L. Collum, Methodist pastor, with Rev. C.W. Painton assisting. Burial was made in the Alfalfa cemetery. Mrs. Willis suffered a broken hip in a fall at her home in Oklahoma City three months ago and never recovered.
Jenora Catherine Marshall was born in Boone county, Ark. Jan. 1, 1865 and died at her home in Oklahoma City March 11, 1945 at the age of 80 years, two months and ten days. She was united in marriage to J.T. Willis at Western Grove, Ark. April 12, 1882 and to this union ten children were born, all but one daughter surviving.
Mr. and Mrs. Willis and their family came to Oklahoma in September, 1900 and settled on their farm three miles west of Alfalfa, where they lived until six years ago when they moved to Oklahoma City where they lived at the time of her death. Mrs. Willis was converted early in life and was a member of the Mount Vernon Presbyterian church.
Survivors include her husband of the home, six sons, Walter, Marion and Boyd of Oklahoma City, J. Oliver Willis of Alfalfa, Hugh Willis of Shawnee and Chester Willis of Los Angeles, Calif., three daughters, Miss Bertie Willis and Mrs. Elsie Violette of Oklahoma City and Mrs. W.S. Herring of this place; 18 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren and one great, great grandchild, one sister ad three brothers. Mrs. Willis had 7 grandsons in the armed forces, 6 serving overseas.
