"Ben F. Whisenand died at three o'clock this morning, 2 ½ miles northwest of town of lung trouble. He was born August 24, 1863, in this County. He was married to Josie Stoltz, daughter of Captain Stoltz of this City, four years ago. He leaves three children by a former marriage. He was a member of the Christian Church. The deceased was a well-known and highly respected farmer, and a life long Democrat. Funeral at Maple Grove Church Sunday at 11 o'clock." BLOOMINGTON WORLD, 19 May 1907. P. 4.
"The funeral of Benjamin Whisenand, whose death occurred Friday morning, at his home northwest of town, was held at twelve o'clock Sunday forenoon at Maple Grove Church. There was a large attendance of friends and appropriate services were conducted by Rev. Charles R. Williams. Pallbearers were Charley, George, Cyrus T. and Walter Whisenand, Morton Steele and William Farr. The remains were interred in Maple Grove Cemetery." BLOOMINGTON TELEPHONE, 21 May 1907.
