RIDGWAY, ILL. —
Myrtle Ethel Rodgers, 95, of Ridgway, passed away at 2 p.m. on Wednesday. March 9, 2011, at the Ridgway Manor Nursing Home.
She was born Feb. 22, 1916, to William and Lorinda (Trail) Burdick of Omaha. Ethel married Burnette Rodgers on Sept. 28, 1932, and he preceded her in death on Feb. 27, 1981.
She was a 78-year member of the New Hope Baptist Church and a 59-year member of the Order of the Eastern Star Ridgway Chapter No. 714.
She is survived by two sons, Jimmie Guy and wife Billie Rodgers and Burnette "Bernie" and wife Barbara Rodgers, all of Ridgway; son-in-law, Ray Crayne of Equality; nine grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Burnette Rodgers; a daughter, Rosetta Crayne; three sisters, Neva Wood, Lela Kohl and Mildred Hosick; and two brothers, Calvin C. and William Burdick.
Visitation for Ethel will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. on Friday, March 11, 2011, with Eastern Star rites at 7 p.m. at the Vickery Funeral Chapel in Ridgway. Funeral service will be held at the funeral home at 1 p.m. on Saturday, March 12, 2011, with the Rev. Todd White officiating with burial at Palestine Two Cemetery near Omaha. Donations in Ethel's memory may be made to Palestine Two Cemetery. Internet condolences may be made at the Internet site www.vickeryfuneralchapel.com.
