The funeral for Clarence "Joe" Hitsman. 64. was held yesterday at the Fry G. Mann Funeral Home. Madrid, with Rev. Barbara Beaudry pastor of the United Church of Waddington. officiating. Burial was in Waddington Cemetery.
Mr. Hitsman, Lisbon, RD 1. was pronounced dead on arrival at the Potsdam Hospital, Saturday morning. June 26. 1976. the victim of a heart attack.
Survivors include his wife. Jennie: two daughters, Mrs. George (Anita) Kimble, Madrid, , Stony Point: Mrs. Kenneth (JoAnne) Pfeister six grandchildren: two sisters. Mrs. Gertrude Bishop. Rossie, and Mrs. Irene Parmeter, MadridMrs. Kenneth (JoAnne) Pfeister: a brother. Fred Hitsman, Madrid: nieces and nephews.
Born Sept. 5. 1911. In Waddington. Mr. Hitsman was a son of Chesley and Carrie Martin Hitsman.
He married Jennie Phelix at the parsonage of the Scotch Presbyterian Church in Chipman. April 14. 1936.
He was employed by the state for 25 years at the Letchworth Village Hospital at Thiells. He retired in 1969.
Since that time, the couple has lived on the Chipman - Pine Grove Road.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Heart Fund, or t&e Madrid or Waddington rescue squads.
