"Sunday was the 88th birthday of Mrs. Sarah Cowell of Woodbridge, the mother of David, Henry L. and Daniel T. and Phineas Cowell of this city. Two of her daughters reside here, one son lives in New York and two others in Woodbridge. She was the mother of 12 children, 3 sons of whom have died. The youngest living child is 43 years of age. Seven of the children were present at the reunion of the family yesterday, two being unavoidably absent. In addition to the children there were also present 11 of her grandchildren. Mrs. Cowell is still hale and hearty and was one of the happiest of all the party assembled to celebrate her birthday. Mrs. Cowell was married in 1808, (August 22, 1809 at the Congregational Society of Orange) when but 16 years of age to David Cowell, who died nearly a quarter of a century ago. She has resided in Woodbridge the greater portion of her life and the number of her friends is only limited by the number of her acquaintances. The reunion yesterday was a most thoroughly enjoyabe affair in every way, to all who were present."
