Loyd L. Byerly A well-known Kirkland Township resident, Loyd L. Byerly, 79, Route 1, Monroe, died at 11:30 p.m. Saturday of a sudden and unexpected heart attack at home. He was born in Adams County on July 17, 1905 to Daniel and Dora Husson-Byerly and married the former Delores Buckmaster in Kirkland Township on May 23, 1931. She died April 14, 1984. He was a retired farmer and former maintenance man at the Caylor-Nickel Medical Center in Bluffton and a member of the Pleasant Dale Church of the Brethren. He was also the church's Sunday School superintendent, a SundaySchool teacher, and the former treasurer of the Pleasant Dale Cemetery Association. In politics, he was a former Republican precinct committeeman. He also was a former president of the Kirkland Township Farm Bureau and a 4-H leader for many years. Survivors include a son, Dee M. Byerly of Route 5, Wabash; a daughter, Mrs. Jim (Mary Ellen) Arnold of Route 4; two sisters --Mabel Neuenschwander and Mrs. William (Glennys) Schwartz, both
of Fort Wayne; seven grandchildren; and eight great- grandchildren. Six brothers and two sisters preceded him in death. His funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Pleasant Dale church, with Rev. John D. Mishler officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant Dale Cemetery. Visiting hours are 7 to 9 p.m. today and 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the Winteregg-Linn and Haggard Funeral Home, but hisbody will also lie in state for an hour prior to the service at the church.
