Dean Byerly Dies at Home in Florida Dean Byerly, 76, retired Decatur insurance man, died at 10:30 p.m. Sunday at his home in Sarasota, Fla., following an illness of only a few days. Mr. Byerly was the operator of the State Farm Insurance Agency in Decatur for a number of years before retiring several years ago. He and his wife have resided in Sarasota for the past three years. Born in Kirkland Township, he was a son of Rev. and Mrs. Daniel Byerly. His father was one of the founders of the Pleasant Dale Church of the Brethren inKirkland Township. He was first married to Fern Syler, who died in 1948. He was later married toReva Hammond-Stauffer. Surviving are his wife; one son, Arden Byerly of Banning, Calif.; one daughter, Mrs. Clarence (Eileen) Neher of Baton Rouge, La.; one brother, Lloyd Byerly of Monroe; three sisters, Mrs. Homer (Lulu) Arnold of Decatur, Mrs. Mabel Neuenschwander and Mrs. Glennis Schwartz, both of Fort Wayne; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at the Hawkin funeral home, 135 North Lime Street, Sarasota, with burial in Florsota Memorial Gardens at Oneca, Fla. Decatur Daily Democrat February 3, 1969
