Ellis, 86, of Hastings, formerly of Charlotte, died at Pennock Hospital, Hastings.

Mr. Bracy was born the son of Leon and Rea (Love) Bracy and lived about 80 years of his life in Charlotte before moving to Hastings. He graduated in 1930 from Charlotte High School.

He was a long-time member of the Chester Gospel Church, but attended the Hastings Baptist Church while living in that city. His lifetime work was farming, but he had several other jobs, which helped support that venture and his family. He was a plastering contractor for many years and later worked for Eaton County as maintenance supervisor for the old courthouse and jail from approximately 1960-75.

He was active in 4-H leadership at one time and he and his wife, Ardis, had been foster parents to 28 children over the years. He was a Sunday School teacher and deacon during much of his life and was well respected for his love for God and God's word – the Bible.

He is survived by his seven children with first wife, Arnold of Lapeer, Vesta Losen of Belleville, Ronald of Nashville, Donald of Metamora, Pat Turley of Hastings, Marsha Keesling of Battle Creek and Becky Kelly of Hastings; one step-daughter, Alice Baldwin of Flint; 26 grandchildren; numerous great-grand children; and one brother, Charles Bracy of Charlotte.

He was preceded in death in 1969 by his wife of 32 years, Ardis Zella (Rice), and his wife of 27 years, Pauline Etta (Graham) in 1998.

Services were July 1 at the Burkhead-Green Funeral Chapel, Charlotte, with the Rev. Barry Smith and the Rev. John Posen officiating.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Chester Gospel Church, Charlotte.
