George Cadmus Pifer, seventy, died Thursday morning in Hamot hospital after a short illness.
He was born in Sugar Hill, PA, Aug. 19, 1893, son of the late James H. and Caroline Robinson Pifer.
Mr. Pifer was employed at the Bury Compressor as a boiler fireman and retired five years ago. He was a member of the Cascade Methodist church and treasurer of the Men's Bible class.
He is survived by his wife, Erma A. Pifer; one daughter, Mrs. Ralph (Montrose) Buhite, Erie; three sons, Hayden M. Pifer, Norman B. Pifer, both of Erie, James A. Pifer, Buena Park, CA, one sister, Mrs. Reuben (Verla) Emerick, DuBois, PA; and 10 grandchildren.
Friends may call at the Donald C. Burton Funeral home Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 2 to 5pm and 7 to 9pm.
Services will be held Monday at 2pm with the Rev. Phillip W. Schlick of the Cascade Methodist church officiating.
Burial will be in Erie County Memorial Gardens.
