Mrs. Nicholas Stemper, 78, of 2011 Wisconsin Ave., New Holstein, died Wednesday midnight at Calumet Memorial Hospital in Chilton where she had been a patient for 10 days.
She was born Aug. 5, 1881 in Greenbush, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Pfang. She attended district schools there and on April 16, 1901 married Nicholas Stemper at St. John's Catholic Church in Plymouth.
She was a member of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church at New Holstein and the Christian Mothers Society of the church.
Survivors include her husband; three sons, Alvin of Newton, Raymond of Elkhart Lake and Edward of New Holstein; five daughters, Mrs. Olive Huebschmann of Random Lake, Mrs. Joseph (Lucille) Grasser of New Holstein, Mrs. Peter (Julia) Pierre of Techny, Ill., Mrs. Otto (Agnes) Herdich of Evanston, Ill. and Mrs. Lawrence (Florence) Noesen of Skokie, Ill.; 37 grandchildren, and one sister, Mrs. Mary Schmitz of Hilbert. One daughter and one son preceded her in death.
