Frank served as a Staff Sergeant & Gunner on B-24D "Hit Parader" #42-41087, 319th Bomber Squadron, 90th Bomber Group, Heavy, U.S. Army Air Force during World War II.
He resided in Tazewell County, Illinois prior to to the war.
He enlisted in the Army on November 3, 1942 in Peoria, Illinois. He was noted, at the time of his enlistment, as being employed as a Driver and also as Married.
B-24D #42-41087 took off from Nadzab Airfield (#1), Morobe Province, Papua New Guinea on bombing mission over Hollandia, Papua Province, Indonesia. After takeoff this crew was never seen nor heard from again. They crashed possibly due to stormy weather in the area. The entire crew of 10 was lost.
Frank was declared "Missing In Action" on this mission during the war.
He was awarded the Air Medal and the Purple Heart.
