Having actually gone "Missing" on the above date, he was not officially declared by the military as being dead until March 7, 1946.

Son of Robert B. Tilden who resided in Pasadena, California.

Robert served as a First Lieutenant & Pilot on B-24D "Hit Parader" #42-41087, 319th Bomber Squadron, 90th Bomber Group, Heavy, U.S. Army Air Force during World War II.

He resided in Los Angeles County, California prior to to the war.

B-24D #42-41087 took off from Nadzab Airfield (#1), Morobe Province, Papua New Guinea on bombing mission over Hollandia, Papua Province, Indonesia. After takeoff this crew was never seen nor heard from again. They crashed possibly due to stormy weather in the area. The entire crew of 10 was lost.

Robert was declared "Missing In Action" on this mission during the war.

He was awarded the Air Medal and the Purple Heart.
