Corbett served as a First Lieutenant & Bombardier on B-24D "Hit Parader" #42-41087, 319th Bomber Squadron, 90th Bomber Group, Heavy, U.S. Army Air Force during World War II.
He resided in Wayne County, Michigan prior to to the war.
He enlisted in the Army Air Corps on March 3, 1942 in Ann Arbor, Michigan. He was noted, at the time of his enlistment, as being employed as a Office Clerk and also as Single, without dependents.
B-24D #42-41087 took off from Nadzab Airfield (#1), Morobe Province, Papua New Guinea on bombing mission over Hollandia, Papua Province, Indonesia. After takeoff this crew was never seen nor heard from again. They crashed possibly due to stormy weather in the area. The entire crew of 10 was lost.
Corbett was declared "Missing In Action" on this mission during the war.
He was awarded the Air Medal and the Purple Heart.

Corbett also has a "Cenotaph" in the Liberty United Methodist Church Cemetery, Whitney, South Carolina.
