Account of 1st Lt Amos B. Sharretts, O-667575, Pilot: 'Lt Swain´s ship peeled up and off to the left and dove. Saw six forms drop out after being attached'.
Account of Captain Harry B. McGregor, O-664417, Pilot: 'One B-24 (Swain) peeled out to the left and turned back to the right after
being hit in the cockpit by fighter. Jettisoned bombs and went into a gentle dive. Eight objects, believed to be bodies came out of the bomb bay doors and waist windows. One chute opened soon after bailing out. Ball gunner saw plane hit the ground and explode. Location: 5358N-0955E'.
Technical Sergeant Gilbert was buried at the cemetery of Boostedt near Kiel in grave number 551.
