CHESTERTON--Mrs. Robert (Ida Mae) Highwood, 88, 421 West Porter Avenue, died Sunday evening at Beatty Memorial Hospital after a lingering illness. The daughter of George and Marie (Augustine) Shaner, she was born in Burdick on May 25, 1872 and was a lifetime resident of the Chesterton areas. She was married in 1896 at Valparaiso to Robert Highwood who preceded her in death. Also preceding her in death was one son, Oris. Surviving are a son Offley, of Chesterton and two grandchildren, Marilyn and Warren Lee Highwood. She was a member of the Methodist church of Chesterton and the Phoebe Rebakah Lodge. Funeral services will be held Thursday at 2 pm at the Johnson Funeral home, Chesterton with the Rev. Clair D. Siple officiating. Burial will be in Chesterton cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home after 4 pm Wednesday.
