HEART ATTACK CLAIMS LIFE OF B. SHANER
Butler Shaner, age 61 years, assistant in the undertaking establishment of H.A. Flynn, at Chesterton, died suddenly at 10 o'clock this morning of a heart attack. Mr. Shaner was stricken while setting out shrubbery at the Flynn mortuary grounds with Axel Carlson, also an assistant at the Flynn mortuary. Complaining of feeling ill, Shaner told Carlson he was going home. Carlson advised him to sit on a box in the garage and rest. Suddenly Shaner gave a gasp and fell to the floor. A doctor who was summoned pronounced him dead.

Mr. Shaner was born on February 16, 1875 at Burdick, Indiana, a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. George Shaner. His wife, Clara, died several years ago. Surviving are two sisters, Mrs. Ida Highwood, Chesterton, with whom he resided and Mrs. Laura Wiseman of Chesterton; two half sisters, Mrs. Melinda McCarthy of Michigan City and Mrs. Priscilla Cotton of Burdick, and one half-brother, Younger Shaner, of Detroit Michigan. No arrangements have been made for memorial services.
