OBITUARY- IDA MARIA STURGEON

Mrs. Ida M. Sturgeon of Table Rock died Friday, March 1, 1969, in the Pawnee Manor at the age of 87 years, 1 month and 17 days. She had been a resident of Pawnee Manor for the past 17 months.

Ida Maria Young was born near Ogle, Illinois on January 13, 1881. She was the daughter of William and Maggie Martin Young. She moved with her parents to northwestern Nebraska as a small child.

She taught school in Chadron, Nebraska before her marriage.

On November 4, 1906 she was united in marriage to John N. Sturgeon at Alliance, Nebraska. Here they were engaged in business for a few years. Later they moved to a farm southwest of Pawnee City, and the family continued to farm until the death of Ida's husband on January 5, 1930.

To this union were born seven children, four of whom survive.

Survivors include her children, Lyle of Table Rock, Merl of Council Bluffs, Iowa, Irma (Mrs. Lester Harris) of Table Rock, and John of Carthage, Mo. Three sisters: Mrs. Edythe McKee of Manhattan, Ks., Elsie Young and Mrs. Jessie Morrill both of Oroville, Calif. also survive. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and three brothers; a daughter, Mildred, and a son, Ronald died in infancy, and son Lester died in December, 1963.

Funeral services were held in the Wherry Chapel in Table Rock on Monday March 4, the Rev. Ward Merritt of Humboldt officiating.

Mr. Wilbert Goos sang "Nearer My God To Thee" and "Abide With Me", accompanied at the piano by Mrs. Orval Peters.

The pallbearers were John Glathar, Lewis Day, Glenn Kent, August Kettelhake, William Marfice and John Meyer. The flower ladies were Mrs. Lewis Day and Mrs. John Deubelbeiss.

Burial was in the Table Rock Cemetery.
