Son of Mrs. Mary H. Taylor who resided in South Pekin, Illinois.

Earl served as a Staff Sergeant & Radio Operator on B-29 #42-24753, 879th Bomber Squadron, 499th Bomber Group, Very Heavy, U.S. Army Air Force during World War II.

He resided in Tazewell County, Illinois prior to the war.

He enlisted in the Army on February 15, 1943 in Peoria, Illinois. He was noted, at the time of his enlistment, as being employed as an industry clerk and also as Single, without dependents.

B-29 #42-24753 took off from Saipan on a night raid with other B-29's over the Nagoya urban area with incendiary bombs.

Shortly after take off a fire broke out in the No. 4 engine. They made what was called a "normal landing" at sea approximately 5 to 10 miles north of Saipan. The entire crew, even though multiple searches were performed, were lost in this crash during the war.

Earl was declared "Missing In Action" in this crash.

He was awarded the Air Medal and the Purple Heart.
