Staff Sergeant Desimone was lost aboard U.S. Army Air Corps B-29-40-BW
Superfortress #42-24592, nicknamed "Dauntless Dotty." Perished when the bomber
crashed into the sea after night takeoff from Kwajalein Atol. Nine other crew were
killed and three survived and were rescued. With the 497th Bomb Group.
