He resided in the District Of Columbia prior to the war.
He enlisted in the Army on December 15, 1943 at Fort Myer, Virginia. He was noted, at the time of his enlistment, as being Married.
Richard was declared "Missing In Action" when his B-29, while on a bombing mission to Tokyo, collided with B-29 (42-63431) and crashed during the war.
He was awarded the Air Medal and the Purple Heart.
His remains were not recovered.
