Alice E. Reinhard, 86.
Services for Alice E. Reinhard, 86, of Fort Wayne, will be held Sunday at 2 p.m. at the Thoma/Rich, Hewitt & Chaney Funeral Home in Bluffton. Miss Reinhard died at 1:10 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 9 at The Laurels of DeKalb in Butler.
Born in Adams County on Feb. 4, 1918 to Adolph and Lydia Meyer Reinhard, she graduated from Kirkland High School in 1935. After graduation from West Suburban Teaching Hospital in 1942 as a registered nurse, she served as a 1st Lt. in World War II as a nurse in the South Pacific theater from 1942 to 1945. She worked as a registered nurse at the V.A. Hospital in Fort Wayne for 18 years, retiring in 1978.
Miss Reinhard was a long time member of the Gospel Temple in Fort Wayne, and then a member of Black Hawk Baptist Church.
Survivors include a brother, Howard Reinhard of Craigville; two sisters, Esther Lehman of Berne and Ruth Dynes of Geneva; a sister-in-law, Agnes Reinhard of Berne; and 18 nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a brother, Carl Reinhard, and a sister, Mary Reinhard.
Calling hours are from noon until 2 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Services will be conducted by the Carlton Reinhard family. Burial will be in the MRE Cemetery in Berne.
