Jeanette L. Peterson, a resident of Freedhem, died Tuesday, July 13, 2010, at St. Joseph's Medical Center in Brainerd. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m., Monday, July 19, at First Lutheran Church in Little Falls, with the Rev. Tony Oltmann officiating. Burial will be in the Freedhem Cemetery in Freedhem. Friends may call from 4 p.m. - 7 p.m. Sunday at the Shelley Funeral Chapel in Little Falls and from noon - 1 p.m. on Monday at First Lutheran Church.
Jeanette was born May 10, 1921, in Severance Township to the late John and Beda (Holmquist) Carlson. She was raised and attended country school in Gibbon. She was united in marriage to Vincent Raymond Peterson June 7, 1943, in Mankato. They lived on their farm by Freedhem where they raised two children. She spent many hard working hours on the farm helping milk cows, bail hay, driving tractor, mowing lawn and gardening. She had a great love for her flower bed of irises. She taught Sunday school at Zion Lutheran Church in Freedhem. She was very talented and loved to sew, tat, crochet and so many other crafts. She loved baking and making Christmas candies. She kept the cellar full of many quarts of pickles, vegetables, fruits and jellies. All of this will be cherished by her family.
Jeanette will be cherished in memory by her son Richard (Janet) Peterson of Freedhem; daughter Jane (the late James) Yorek of Sobieski; grandchildren Dale (Sheila) Peterson, Michael (Jacqueline) Peterson, Jeanie (Vince) Michaels, Michelle (Al) Maslowski, Jason (Eric Colleary) Yorek, Elizabeth (Loren) Vetsch, Joshua and Joel Yorek; great-grandchildren, Wendy Peterson, Tyler and Brady Lorenz, and Blake Maslowski; sisters-in-law Bernice Sassen of Roseville, Juanita Carlson of Richfield and Marjorie Carlson of Winthrop; many nieces and nephews.
Jeanette is preceded in death by her husband Vincent; parents John and Beda; great-granddaughter Faith Vetsch; three sisters and nine brothers.
Honorary casketbearers will be Wendy Peterson, Tyler Lorenz, Brady Lorenz and Blake Maslowski.
