HESSVILLE -- WILLIAM IVO "BILL" MATTINGLY, 80, passed away on Wednesday, November 21, 2001, at the Community Hospital, Munster, IN. Mr. Mattingly had been a resident of the Calumet area for 56 years, and was a Charter Member of the Hessville Assembly of God Church. He was a World War II Veteran of the U. S. Army having served in the European Theatre Operation as a Sergeant. In lieu of flowers, a Memorial Fund is being established in favor of the Hessville Assembly of God Church. Mr. Mattingly retired in 1981 after 30 years of service as a car inspector/supervisor for the Indiana Harbor Belt Railroad. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Ruth; three daughters, Suzette (Chuck) Sterba of West Chester, IL, Cheryi (Vernon) Rumsey of Hammond, IN and Bonnie (Jeff) Towne of Griffin, IN; five grandchildren, Danielle Denehie, Monte (Libby) Denehie, Jeremy Towne, Jason Towne and Shawn Holstein; and two great-grandchildren, Nathanael and Madelyn. Memorial services: 3 p.m. Sunday, November 25, 2001, directly at the Hessville Assembly of God Church, 7350 Kennedy Ave., Hessville, IN with Rev. Jim Goettel and Rev. Raymond Bocken officiating. Friends are invited to visit with the family at the church from 2 p.m. until time of services. Graveside military memorial services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Thursday, November 29th at the Summit United Methodist Church Cemetery in Summit, KY.
