This is my sweet Aunt Velma, my dad's twin sister. She passed away at 4:15am Tuesday August 3, 2010.

Velma was born at Platter Flats, Oklahoma May 10, 1915. She moved to an area near Wapanucka, Oklahoma. She and her brothers and sisters picked cotten as kids. Married Hurshel Hickman. Together they had a farm & their children. Later moved to Keller, Texas and resided there for many years then her home was moved from railroad propery to a place at Westminister, Texas where she lived her last years. Velma loved her farm and often made trips back and forth from Texas to Oklahoma often bringing her grandkids with her when they was little who have many happy memories of their times together. Velma loved her pickup and camper she had for many years. She loved to fish, loved her farm, the pecan trees, the outdoors, and at one time I remember she loved to sew until arthitis got her hands and fingers where she couldnt anymore. I remember she must have done some ceramics at one time because she made my son Jason his first piggy bank when he was a baby. Velma loved life. Loved her children and grandchildren playing a big part in their lives and family get togethers. She was an awesome lady.
