Marcella Valek

Marcella Valek, 92, of Northfield died Saturday, October 3, 1998 at Three Links Care Center in Northfield.
Valek was born October 26, 1905, to Frank and Elizabeth (Skluzacek) Malecha of rural Rice County. She attended Rice County Schools.
On November 17, 1925, she married Frank C. Valek at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Lonsdale. She made her home and farmed on the family farm near Webster until 1958.
She later moved to Northfield where she was employed by the Carleton College food service. She was a member of the Church of Saint Dominic in Northfield and was a member of the St. Theresa's unit of the church. She also was a volunteer for St. Dominic School for many years.
She is survived by three sons, Francis (Delores) of Farmington and Lawrence (Delores) and Robert Valek of Northfield; three daughters Elsie (Robert) Sirek and Irene (Leonard) Horejsi of Northfield and Mamie Tuma of New Prague; a daughter-in-law, Mary Lou Valek of Maple Plain; 45 grandchildren; 73 great-grandchildren; 12 great-great- grandchildren; a sister, Anna Andreas of Webster; and two brothers, Joe F.C. Malecha of Northfield and Jerome Malecha of Faribault.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; two sons, Ernest in 1959 and John 1989; a son-in law, Edward Tuma; four grandchildren and four brothers and sisters.
Pallbearers were Sandy Johnson, Judy Tuma, Teresa Martin, Sherie Wutschke, Corrine Duncan, Jackie Peterson and Renee Boeve.
