Thursday morning the dead body of Mr. Rufus Bonta, son of Mr. A. B. Bonta, was found in a pond near the house on his father's place, near town. He left home on Wednesday, and when he did not return at night much alarm was felt. Next morning search was instituted and George McClanahan, who worked on the farm, and a neighbor, Mr. Trisler, discovered the body lying in the shallow water near the bank of the pond. Deceased was 37 years of age, and had been in very feeble health for a number of years. He walked about the place a great deal and it is believed he fell in the pond and was too weak to get out. Coroner Gibbs held an inquest and returned a verdict in accordance with the above. Rev. Lon Robinson conducted funeral services Friday afternoon, and the interment took place in Spring Hill cemetery.
