Walter Garrett Bonta, born in Harrodsburg December 27, 1867, died in San Francisco, Calif., Tuesday, July 17, 1934, and his remains will be returned here for burial in Spring Hill cemetery. the date of the funeral service will be announced later when the remains arrive. Mr. Bonta was the son of Abraham Bonta and Elizabeth McDonald, his father being in his day a wealthy farmer and stockman who owned "Highland Home,' abut two miles from Harrodsburg on the Danville road, now the property of Mrs. J. H. Farley. After his education in the local schools and Centre College he was graduated from the law department of Vanderbilt University, Nashville, Tenn. He was the youngest student to receive the $50 gold medal offered for proficiency in Greek. He has been living in the West for more than thirty years, most of that time practicing law in San Francisco with much success. He is survived by two brothers, Dr. Maurice Bonta, Los Angeles, California; Leroy R. Bonta, Harrodsburg, and two sisters, Mrs. Frank VanDeren and Miss Lena Bonta, of Lexington.
