Mrs. Minnie Christie Dies At Home
Mrs. Minnie Estes Christie, 76, died at 1:20 o'clock this morning at her home in Muscotah after a lingering illness.
Funeral arrangements are pending. Services will be held in the Methodist church in Muscotah, the time to be announced later. Interment will be in the Monrovia cemetery.
The daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. S. Estes, Mrs. Christie was born in East Atchison, Mo., March 22, 1869, December 1, 1887, she was married to Thomas Nimrod Christie and after spending a few years on a farm in Missouri moved to the Monrovia neighborhood then to Effingham and in 1927 to Muscotah.
Mrs. Christie was the mother of 11 children. Nine of whom survive in addition to her husband. The surviving children are Mrs. Fannie Jones, Walla Walla, Wash., Mrs. Edith Vine and Thomas Christie, jr. Netawaka, Mrs. Myrtle Ratz, Lyndon, Mrs. Mildred Coder, Cummings, Mrs. Edna McDonald, Muscotah, and Harold, Enos, and Arch Christie, Muscotah. Fifteen grandchildren and nine great grandchildren also survive.
A son and two grandsons are in the armed forces in this war. A son, Ray Frances Christie was killed several years ago by lightning shortly after his marriage. Mrs. Christie was the sole survivor of a family of 12 children.
Always a member of the Christian church. Mrs. Christie however became associated with the Methodist church when she moved to Muscotah. She was a devoted mother and was loved and respected for her many qualities.
