VALLEY FALLS - Thomas Earnest "Tom" Christie, 72, was dead on arrival at a Holton hospital Monday after he had an apparent heart attack at his home here.

He was born May 3, 1900 near Effingham, and spent his early life in the Muscotah community. He lived in the Peters Creek community west of Valley Falls 20 years before he moved into Valley Falls in 1970. He was a retired farmer.

He was a member of the Christian Church and the Valley Falls Saddle Club.

He was married to Freeta M. Keen Feb. 12, 1918 at Valley Falls. She survives. Other survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Velma Scheid, Holton; 2 sons, Earnest Christie, Osage City, and Millard Christie, Tonganoxie; a sister, Mrs. Mildred Hudson, Horton; 3 brothers, Arch Christie, Harold Christie and Enos Christie, all of Muscotah; and 7 grandchildren.

Services will be Wednesday at First United Methodist Church at Valley Falls with burial in Valley Falls Cemetery. Nellis-Hagge Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
