Mr. Smith Satterwhite, age 87 of Crockett, passed away Wednesday, July 21, 2010 in the East Texas Medical Center-Crockett.

Mr. Satterwhite was born October 27, 1922 in Crockett, Texas and lived all of his lifetime in Crockett. Mr. Satterwhite was a veteran of the United States Army Air Corp. having served during World War II. He was past Vice President at Crockett State Bank from 1940-1942 and a director until it sold. Mr. Satterwhite was retired owner and operator of Satterwhite Wholesale Grocers. He was a member of the First Baptist Church since 1934.

Survivors include his wife Ann Allee Satterwhite, of Crockett; children Smith Satterwhite and wife Deborah, of Pittsburg, Stephen Satterwhite and wife Janalyn, of Rogers, Ark. and Elizabeth Overstreet and husband James, of Lufkin; grandchildren Chris, JoAnna, Jonathan, Lauren, Jessica and Katie; great-grandchildren Annah Grace and Trenton Blayne; numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Preceded in death by his parents B. L. Satterwhite and Charm Satterwhite; brothers B. L. Satterwhite, Jr., George Shepard Satterwhite and A. C. "Pud" Satterwhite; and sister Julia Satterwhite Dickey.

Funeral Services for Mr. Smith Satterwhite were held Saturday, July 24, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. in the Callaway-Allee Memorial Chapel. Interment followed in the Evergreen Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 212 Gene Samford Drive, Lufkin, Texas 75904.
