HOUSTON COUNTY COURIER - Sunday, March 29, 1998 Benjamin Lafayette Satterwhite, Jr., age 84, of Crockett, passed away Monday, March 23, 1998 in Crockett. Mr. Satterwhite was born Feb. 28, 1914 in Crockett. Mr. Satterwhite was a lifetime resident of Crockett. He was a World War II Army veteran, having served in the European Theatre. For his service to his country he received the Purple Heart, the Bronze Star and other medals. He was a member of the Masonic Order, a charter member of the Rotary Club, a past president of the Houston County School Board and past president of the Houston County Chamber of Commerce. He was a beloved member of the First Baptist Church where he had been a member for 73 years. The love of his life was his home, family and church family. He especially enjoyed the A. S. Lee Sunday School Class. Survivors include his sons, Ben L. Satterwhite, III of Crockett, Bob and Trudy Satterwhite of San Antonio; daughter, Judy Satterwhite of Houston; brother, Smith Satterwhite and wife, Ann Satterwhite, Helen Satterwhite; grandchildren, Kemberly and Melissa Satterwhite of San Antonio; numerous other relatives and friends. Funeral services for Mr. Satterwhite were held Wednesday, March 25 at 2 p.m. in the First Baptist Church with the Rev. E.P.Ramsey and the Rev. Jeff Moran officiating. Interment followed in Evergreen Memorial Park. Pallbearers were Clive "Bubba" Dickey, Rex Ellis, George Satterwhite, Jeff Rosenfield, Richard Satterwhite, Smith Satterwhite, Jr., Don Craven. Honorary pallbearers wre George Hadid, Raymond Callaway, Puny Woods, Charles Kent, Clifford Knox, Max Hardy. Waller-Ramsey Funeral Home
