Died as a result of an accident.

Civil War: Company A, 39th Illinois Infantry. Mustered in at at Dixon, IL, and joined its regiment, then in the Army of the Potomac, under Gen Grant. Winter 1864-65 @ Richmond. Battles of Five Forks, April 1 & 2; Appomattox, surrender of Gen Lee & close of the war.

Occup: Engaged in farming & mining in Guilford. Moved to Scales Mound in 1880 and bought a meat market from J McDonald.

Avocation: Was President of the Horse Breeders' Association, and has an interest in several imported Percheron stallions.
